Record Numbers of Marine Enthusiasts Buy Wakeboards in Past Decade

The popularity of wake boards has exploded in the last decade or so along with other “extreme” sports like skateboarding, snow boarding and motocross.  More people buy wakeboards now than ever before.  Wake boards come in a variety of shapes and sizes and what board is perfect for you depends on your experience level, style of riding, weight and many other factors.  In order to have a successful wake boarding session you must have the right accessories as well.  Make sure all of your bases are covered!

Wakeboards

Made of high tech composite materials and processes wake boards are designed to increase stability while allowing for big air and complicated tricks.  Almost every town has a wakeboard shop with wakeboards for sale but sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect board for you.  Instead of just picking from a limited supply do your homework and find out what shape, size and kind of board best fits you.  Everything about a board including wakeboard bindings can affect how you ride.  Make sure you know what wakeboard is perfect for you; check out our information pages here.

Water Skis

The wakeboarding owes its popularity to water skiing as much as it does the X games, snowboarding and skateboarding.  The original extreme water sport, water skiing is still hugely popular.  The sport has become carved into niches with tons of products filling every permutation you can think of.  When looking at water skis for sale take into consideration the size and shape of ski you are looking for.  There are water skis for sale that are considered slalom skis, shaped skis, combo skis and junior skis to fit everyone’s preferences.

Towable Tubes

Not everyone is coordinated enough to water ski or wake board.  Doing either takes some strength, coordination and some skill.  For those just looking to have fun on their next trip out on the water towable tubes are perfect!  These giant intertubes come in a huge variety of shapes and configurations.  You can get towables that are made for one, two or many people.  We have all seen the famous hot dog inflatable towable that can carry 5 or more people.  If you’re looking to have a good time and don’t want to worry about being able to “get up” then towable tubes are for you!

Wake Board Life Jackets

Wakeboarding involves being towed at high speeds behind a boat, getting air off of wakes and doing complicated tricks.  Needless to say there are going to be times when it all doesn’t come together and you and the water meet at full speed.  In these situations regular recreational life jackets are not properly suited to protect you.  Wakeboarding life jackets are made for those engaging in any sort of water sport activity like this, for example skiing, towables etc.  They come with extra harness belts around the mid section to ensure your personal floatation device stays on when you hit the water.

Wakeboard Apparel

While most wakeboarding is done in warm weather climates that doesn’t mean the water isn’t all that warm.  A deep lake can be pretty chilly even on a warm summer day.  Luckily they make wakeboarding apparel like rash guards and wet suits to help you stay a little warmer.  Rash guards are wet suit like material but only cover the upper half and are usually worn with board shorts.  These are particularly helpful for women as high speed impacts with water have been known to knock tops off. There is also a wide selection of wakeboarding helmets for those who are getting serious air and have to worry about landing on their noggins.

Wakeboard Magazines and Videos

Just like any other sport, wakeboarding has a whole slew of magazines and videos out there for fans of the sport to follow.  The most popular wakeboard magazine is “Wakeboarding Magazine”.  This magazine and others like it follow current events in the sport, competitions, professional wake boarders and up and comers.  They also provide reviews of wakeboards, wakeboard videos, wakeboarding apparel and boats and other accessories.  If you’re looking to learn how to wakeboard or see how the pros are on the water then make sure you check out wakeboard videos too.  You’ll be amazed at what is possible on that board!
