Unsinkable Mini Speed Boat Called “The Zingy” Get’s Towed by a Mini Car to the Set of “Dragons Den” on CBC Television
Zingy Boatworks builds miniature speed boats called Zingy and decides to offer a piece of the pie to Canadian big shot investors - on CBC television in Canada.
In two minutes Dragon's Den will air on the west coast.
Not knowing the outcome yet if Zingy Boatworks received Dragon's (investors) money - I thought I would share my story about "The Zingy" before I watch the show tonight.
Here’s my experience with the zingy speed boat....
Last September 27th 2009 – while watching my brother play soccer in Richmond - I received call from my Uncle Bruce on my cell phone.
Bruce says “Steve meet me down at Vanier Park boat launch because Clayton and I are cruising False Creek in “the boat”.
“The boat” is the Zingy.
And the Zingy is a little venture of Clayton Tourney’s (a friend of my uncles).
I met Clayton once or twice before and I also knew he drove toToronto earlier in the spring to be on the TV show "Dragons Den" with the mini speed boat he built.
Needless to say I was super excited to drive down to Vanier Park and see The Zingy speed boat for the first time in the water.
All pumped up I arrived at the boat launch - but there was no sign of my Uncle or Clayton - or a small mini speed boat for that matter.
But then I remembered what Clayton towed the mini boat with - a mini cooper.
So I looked to the parking lot and saw the mini cooper with a mini trailer behind a big truck with a big trailer.
In nutshell - I knew they were still in the water.
So I had to be patient and wait.
Fifteen minutes went by waiting very patiently, when suddenly I heard a little boy (around 10 years old) say to his Dad, “Dad, look at that boat!”
The father replied, "Cool! You could probably captain that thing."
After I heard the father say that - I instantly looked at the water knowing what the father and son were talking about – yup there they were, coming under the Burrard Street Bridge in the mini speed boat.
Finally I see The Zingy.
I said the exact same thing the father said to his son - but under my breath…Cool!
The next thought I had was, “If I had a bigger boat – I’d definitely buy that as a yacht tender.
Why?
- It’s a head turner.
- Go to troll for salmon
- Maybe water ski and wake board behind it
- Good boat for the kids to learn how to drive
- Great tender to cruise to the beach
- Super easy to row
- Unsinkable
- It’s fuel efficient
- Plus many more benefits
Here comes Clayton and Bruce with the Zingy into False Creek. A little show boatin'.
Top speed 35 miles per hour with the little speed boat "The Zingy".
Another day of testing complete. I'll go get the truck - I mean mini cooper!
A quick look inside The Zingy while tied up at Vanier Park in Vancouver BC.
The Zingy is probably the most photographed vessel in the past year in BC. SNAP SHOT!
So what do you think of the Zingy?
